Not Fully Achieved

The Government legacy statement in December 2010 committed to embedding ODA standards into government procurement but the implementation of this still being discussed within Government. The Government’s Low Carbon Construction report published by BIS in autumn 2010 identified that the approach taken by the ODA has the potential to influence future large and small scale projects. In addition the Green Construction Board (a joint HMG/industry board) is considering the broader applications of the ODA learning legacy and case studies. Defra is in the process of commencing work with the Building Research Establishment to develop a short toolkit on sustainable public procurement in relation to construction. This will seek to explain how embodied carbon can be addressed amongst wider sustainability issues. Not Fully Achieved

Progress Made

The commitment in the Government legacy report to embed ODA standards into government procurement is commendable but will prove to be challenging to implement. The Government's Low Carbon Construction report published by BIS in autumn 2010 provides further evidence that London 2012 is starting to make a difference as it identifies that the approach taking by the ODA demonstrates that the targets can be delivered and they have the potential to influence future large and small scale projects. In addition the Green Construction Board (a joint HMG/industry board) is considering the scope for broader application of the ODA learning legacy and case studies and lesson learnt. Progress Made
